This is the first edition of *First Lessons in Plane Geometry*, a textbook by Francis J. Grund, published by Carter and Hendee in Boston in 1830. This book is notable for being one of the first non-religious textbooks written in America by a Jewish author. The text includes basic principles of plane geometry along with practical applications in problem-solving.

Handmade 9" miniature sterling silver replica of Lord Nelson's sword. One side is engraved with the name "Dr. John von Neumann," a Hungarian-born Jewish American mathematician and polymath. Created by Tiffany & Co. in the mid-20th century, it was commissioned as a gift for speakers at the Calvin Bullock Forum on the 33rd floor of 1 Wall Street. According to a New York Times article by Meyer Berger (12/19/1956), these swords were given to 400 distinguished men who spoke at the forum. The forum, established by Calvin Bullock in 1937, educated financiers, lawyers, and industrialists. The sword's size is 9"L, weight 57.3 grams, and it is marked "Tiffany & Co. Makers Sterling 56927 m."
