Miniature Sterling Silver Replica of Lord Nelson's Sword
Handmade 9" miniature sterling silver replica of Lord Nelson's sword. One side is engraved with the name "Dr. John von Neumann," a Hungarian-born Jewish American mathematician and polymath. Created by Tiffany & Co. in the mid-20th century, it was commissioned as a gift for speakers at the Calvin Bullock Forum on the 33rd floor of 1 Wall Street. According to a New York Times article by Meyer Berger (12/19/1956), these swords were given to 400 distinguished men who spoke at the forum. The forum, established by Calvin Bullock in 1937, educated financiers, lawyers, and industrialists. The sword's size is 9"L, weight 57.3 grams, and it is marked "Tiffany & Co.
