Silver Presentation Spoon: Wedding Gift to Julia Tandler from Congregation Emanu-El, San Francisco, California
This archival object consists of a silver spoon, one of two, given as a wedding gift to Julia Tandler from Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco, California. The spoon is engraved with the inscription "Congregation Emanu-El to Julia Tandler." The spoon was hallmarked "Braverman & Levy" of San Francisco, measures 6 inches in length, and is part of a collection of four silver pieces gifted by the Congregation for the wedding. The wedding took place on October 13, 1862. Abraham Tandler, Julia's likely father, was among the incorporators of Adas Israel in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1842.
