Collection of 19th-Century Saloon Drink Tickets from Canajoharie, New York

Collection of five 19th-century saloon drink tickets, each measuring approximately 2 1/4 x 1 1/4 inches. The tickets, good for 4-5 cents worth of drinks, belonged to J. Neach's Bar, Wm. J. Scharff, David Cohen & Co., E. Davis, and an unidentified saloon. Saloon owners distributed these tickets to canal boat crews. The tickets are from a printer's album dating to the 1870s from the Canajoharie, NY area. The tickets show discoloration and staining; some show printer's notes on quantity and price. The collection reflects the commercial practices of the time and the social habits of canal boat workers in upstate New York.
