Subject: Suriname

This manuscript, titled "Verzameling van Schoonheden van Verschillende Dichters" (An Aesthetic Collection by Various Poets), was compiled by David da Silva in Suriname in 1865. It is an extensive collection of poems and short stories by various authors, presented in an elegant cursive hand, ink on paper. The document features a fine calligraphic title and includes text in both Dutch and French. The offering was made on "29 Tebammy S.L." (February 29), and the receipt itself is dated Paramaribo, March 6, 1836. The document features printed text for the main body, with handwritten insertions for the payer's name, the amount, the specific offering date, the receipt date, and the signature of "Den Penningmeester" (The Treasurer), Promet. The amount 'f=50' is underlined twice. The overall style is simple and functional, typical of financial records of the period.

A strip of twelve printed monthly coupons, dated from January 1 to December 1, 1837, acknowledging contributions made by J. Juda Lyons. These receipts document payments of 0.50 Gulden each month to the Armwezen der Nederlandsche Israelitische Gemeente (Almsfund of the Dutch Jewish Community) in Paramaribo, Suriname. Each coupon features pre-printed text with handwritten insertions for the contributor's name, account number (No. 46), amount, and the signature of the treasurer. The title "Bijdrage Ten Behoeve van het Armwezen der Nederlandsche Israelitische Gemeente" (Contribution to the Almsfund of the Dutch Jewish Community) is printed prominently along the left edge of the strip.
