Brass Plaque from Bernard Baruch's Commemorative Park BenchBrass Plaque from Bernard Baruch's Commemorative Park Bench

Original brass plaque from a park bench dedicated to Bernard M. Baruch on his ninetieth birthday in 1960. Located in Lafayette Park across from the White House, the bench served as a place where Baruch, advisor to five presidents, would dispense wisdom. The plaque, measuring 13.5" long, 6.5" high, and 1/2" thick, reads "ELDER STATESMAN'S BENCH, RESERVED FOR BERNARD M. BARUCH." This plaque was sold in the late 1980s before it was slated to be melted for scrap.
