First edition printing of the Acts passed at the Second Congress of the United States of America, including both the first (1791) and second (1792) sessions, published together for the first time. Published in Philadelphia by Francis Childs and John Swaine in 1793. This volume notably includes the first twelve amendments to the Constitution (the Bill of Rights) and their ratification by each state, as well as acts establishing the Post Office, the U.S. Mint, regulations concerning fisheries and foreign coins, and the Treaty with the Cherokee Nation. The book is an octavo, bound in original calf, with 175, iii, [176]-291, ii, [24] pages. Condition: Covers scuffed and marred, extremities worn; head of spine chipped; joints splitting but cover firmly attached; interior very clean with previous owner signatures on blank and title page.
