Silver Obol of King Bela IV, 1235


Silver obol minted in 1235 during the reign of King Bela IV of Hungary. The obverse depicts a crowned bust of the king with the inscription "REX BELA" and a Hebrew letter Tsade. The reverse shows a standing eagle. This coin is one of six similar yet uniquely designed pieces in the collection, indicating the work of Jewish mint masters.
