Post-Civil War trade token issued by Nathan Hyman, an importer of watches and fine jewelry in San Francisco, California. The token's obverse reads "HYMAN, N.J. (NATHAN)..., IMPORTER of WATCHES & FINE JEWLLERY...FRENCH, ENGLISH, JAPANESE & CHINESE; FANCY GOODS...205 KEARNY STREET." The reverse reads "SOLE AGENT FOR HYMAN'S ENGLISH BLACK GARNET JEWELERY...WHOLESALE & RETAIL...205 KEARNY STREET." The token dates to circa 1876. Additional biographical information notes that Hyman was a clerk for Joseph Brothers in 1860-61 and a salesman in 1867.
