Manuscript parole document issued on October 10, 1862, for John Alben of the Union Army. The document was signed by 1st Lt. and Provost Marshall N. Elcan Levy of the 7th Brigade, 2nd Division, Army of Kentucky. Alben swears an oath not to take up arms against the Confederacy. Lt. Levy was later killed in action at the Battle of the Crater in 1864.
