The note is signed 12/6/1853 and has a handwritten inscription on the back advertising Herzberg & Brother, Clothiers, located at No. 2 Market Space, Baltimore, Maryland. Philip Herzberg, mentioned in connection with this note, was a prominent figure in Baltimore in 1853, serving as chairman of the committee to form a temple and known for his active Jewish life.
