Chatunah Baya'ar (Wedding in the Forest): A Hebrew Children's Book, 1st Edition
This rare first edition Hebrew children's book, "Chatunah Baya'ar" ("Wedding in the Forest"), was written by Ya'akov (Jacob) David Kamson in Berlin circa 1925 and illustrated by Else Wentz-Vitar. The illustrations feature anthropomorphized animals and plants, influenced by the Jugendstil movement. Published by the Menorah Press of Berlin and Vienna, the book is presented in a fold-out panorama format, with 14 pages (each printed on one side) containing several lines of Hebrew text. The book includes a bookseller's tag from S. Rosenberg, Heb. Buchhandlung, Muchen-gladbach. This copy is in very fine condition, unlike another known copy in the Jean Moldovan Collection at the Yeshiva University Museum (98.881), which was exhibited in 2005 and is in fair condition.
