Broadside: The Wonderful Mammoth Cave in Kentucky

A broadside depicting "THE WONDERFUL MAMMOTH CAVE IN KENTUCKY." Printed on one side, measuring 15 x 11 inches, it features a map of the cave system and an engraving of a mummy discovered within. The text provides commentary by Nahum Ward, describing his visit to the cave at the invitation of Charles Wilkins of Wilkins and Gratz, owners who mined the cave for saltpeter. Printed in Liverpool, U.K., by E. Smith, circa 1820. The broadside notes that the map and mummy image were copied from an American engraving dated 1817.
