Invitation - to B. Etting....1854 invitation from Thomas Dent Mütter to a Wistar Party (Mütter is the namesake of the Mütter Museum in Philadelphia)....Engraved card with a likeness of Caspar Wistar, filled in my hand: Dr. Mütter requests the pleasure of Mr. B. Etting's company...dated Dec. 4, 1854. The Wistar Parties were started by physician and professor Caspar Wistar in 1818, associated with the medical profession and the University of Pennsylvania. After Wistar's death, Philadelphians carried on the tradition, and from what we can tell, the Wistar Institute hosts them still.
