Manuscript for an Article - A scathing historical article in the CC is the leader of Ashkenazi Jewry, Rabbi Hirsch. An important and poignant historical article, in the holy manuscript of the leader of Ashkenazi Jewry, the renowned Gaon Rabbi Shimshon Raphael Hirsch, in his eyes that anticipate from afar what will happen nearly a century later in Germany. Frankfurt, 1855. ? The article deals with a government decree passed in Lower Franconia, instructing the Jews to supervise and monitor all their steps, business activities and daily routine. Rabbi Hirsch protests this and tells of the great embarrassment stemming from the puzzling motives of the decree. In his article, Rabbi Hirsch refers to the Jews' yearning to leave Germany and find a free homeland, adding that it should come as no surprise that Jews with means are even considering immigrating to America. Rabbi Hirsch writes that while the overseas continent is not heaven on earth, Jews nevertheless find it a homeland that recognizes them as equal children. According to him, this country is free from the toxic atmosphere of dungeon that hovers over the heads of Jews in Germany. The article was published at the time by Rabbi Hirsch in Yeshurun [dated April 15, 1855], but in the manuscript before us there are about [4] lines on which the Rabbi passed erasure lines, and they were not printed in Yeshurun. In addition, beyond the page there are drawings [about 7 lines] that were also not printed. The contents of the records have not been investigated.
