Trade - National card....Noxall Overalls, Shirts, Pants Quincy Ill.... Isaac Lesem as Manufacturer...Isaac Lesem...In 1871 the firm of S. J. Lesem & Sons, begun in 1855, built a six-story building overlooking the Mississippi to expand their business of "jobbers and importers of dry goods and notions." That building still stands. But the Lesems went even further when they built the Noxall clothing factory. The line of shirts, jeans, overalls, and jackets made the Noxall trademark a guarantee of durability, and its name was known throughout the United States. At its peak Noxall employed five hundred people in one the most up-to-date factories of its time, light and airy with readily accessible fire escapes. Brother of Salomon Jacob Lesem, Henry Lesem, Henrietta (Lesem) Levi, Sarah (Lesem) Kern, Marx A. Lesem and Elias Lesem...Isaac Lesem's wife, Kate, was selected from "the Hebrew Society," to broaden the orphanage's financial base. In Kate's memory, Isaac Lesem contributed generously to the Cleveland Jewish Orphanage.
