Manuscript - Twenty-one (21) handwritten pages,16 of which are in a handmade booklet measuring about 3" x 7.5", and 5 of which are on 3 loose leaves measuring about 4" x 6.5". Origins unknown, but the handwriting appears American. The manuscript begins with the heading "Genesis Chap XI" and a date of Nov. 12, 1805. Underneath are 15 lines giving selected Hebrew words and their English translations. The manuscript proceeds methodically through each successive chapter of Genesis, with each chapter's translations being done on a different date, concluding with Chapter XL in June, 1806. There are varying numbers of translated words and phrases for each chapter, ranging from just one to more than 50. No translated words or phrases appear to be repeated, and no effort is made at following any narrative. As an example, the translations from Chapter XI (Nov. 16, 1805) are: "An altar; to hunger, N. a famine, hunger; to approach, to come near; to be fair, beautiful; to rule, N. a ruler; sheep of flocks of sheep, v. to be fruitful; to look, search, N. oxen or cattle; to disturb, N. an ass, male or female; to plague, to smite, N. a stroke or plague; to make, to do; to command, order.
